This year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary !
Much has changed since we first met in 1994 to discuss informally the role of endovascular therapy in the management of peripheral vascular disease but 15 years later our motivation remains the same: to bring together experts from surgery, radiology and cardiology to debate openly and frankly the topical issues of the day. With the active participation of our industrial partners, we will meet informally as friends to exchange ideas and experiences - a unique format which has ensured the continuing success of this small but very special meeting.
We will this year start with a satellite symposium devoted to ‘imaging for endovascular intervention’ with particular focus on the role of workstations in planning of complex interventions. There will be two sessions devoted to developments in carotid stenting (selection, technique, materials and follow up) and one session each on renal and lower limb interventions. We will examine critically the indications for secondary intervention after EVAR and consider how best we should follow our patients so as to ensure that complications are detected while risk and cost are kept to a minimum. We will then consider how practice has evolved and the impact of this evolution on the cost effectiveness of EVAR. We will review developments in pharmacology that impact on endovascular practice and consider again the role of TEVAR in the management of both acute and chronic dissection. There will also be a session on endovenous therapy and a session in which delegates can present difficult and challenging cases for discussion. In addition, each day, after lunch, physicians attending the Workshop will have the opportunity to meet the experts who have shaped the field of endovascular intervention during a number of ‘round table’ focus groups.
As is our custom, registration will be limited to 150 participants. This small,
select group will be able to enjoy the unique pleasures of this charming island while they interact with both colleagues and faculty in an atmosphere conducive both to work and leisure.
In 2008, the workshop will take place immediately before the MEET in Cannes so that delegates and faculty can easily include both meetings in a single trip.
